Charlie experienced his first pinewood car derby process through Boy Scouts. He and BJ did a great job making his car but we realized that some people take this seriously and we picked up some ideas for future years. Charlie had a great time and was thrilled for receiving a participation trophy so we call that a success.
First grade Boy Scout friends. Life is good.
Lucy and Charlie were helping me make when I noticed that with her Minnie Mouse dress and apron on, she could easily pass for a 1950s housewife. She's just missing the red lips, heels and pearls but let's not give her any ideas!
Everything tastes better when you've had a hand in making it!
We were super excited to spend a weekend in Bettendorf, spending time with Emma, Claire and Hannah while Mike and Molly were away for a few days.
I had a chance to try my hand at driving a minivan - only curb checking two curbs :).
The Children's Museum in Bettendorf was awesome and Claire and Hannah were very gracious to spend a few hours there with Charlie and Lucy.
I see that her 15 minutes of posing in the mirror post-bath is paying off. Heaven help me.
It was a beautiful day so we took advantage and spent some time in the outdoor play area as well - we all appreciated the sun and warmer temps on a January Saturday!
I made sure to prepare healthy meals for the crew - calcium from cheese curds and protein from chicken strips, right?
Look who lost his 3rd tooth - one of the "biggies" in the front. It was barely hanging on when he finally mustered the courage to pull it himself. The Tooth Fairy left $3 that have been burning a whole in his wallet ever since. Of course Lucy is now convinced that her teeth are loose as well.
There is a new 24-hour (yes, 24-hour) donut shop that opened by our house. I'm proud to say that we waited a few weeks before venturing there but oh my, we finally stopped there one day after an early out and it's like a sugarific heaven. The walking-distance proximity might become problematic...
The kids were thrilled that we finally had some more snow. I'd be OK if it's the last time that we see snow this year.
How do you know who is "boss"? The one who convinces the other to assume a horse position so that she can basically have a chariot.
We were able to surprise Charlie by joining him for lunch one day. We are really lucky that they genuinely seem fond of each other.
